About the Roderick Gay Botanical Garden

The Roderick Gay Botanical Garden is a premier botanical garden, conservation preserve, and ecotourism destination being developed on the historic former Camp Truitt 4-H Center in College Park, Georgia. As highlighted in The Southerner, the Garden transforms an once-vacant property into a vibrant public destination dedicated to horticulture, conservation, education, research, and recreation.

Located just minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the Garden’s Master Conceptual Plan includes a 22-acre Ecotourism Garden Expansion, a seven-acre visitor parking campus across from the Airport Consolidated Rental Car Facility on Global Gateway, and a future Gateway Connector Bridge providing pedestrian access into the Garden.

The Master Plan also features several signature attractions, including the planned 109-foot Nexus Waterfall, a formal entrance with a landscaped roundabout fountain, the reimagined Wedding Pool Gardens with an elevated bridge and floating fountains, the restored historic Spring House, and approximately 10 acres of preserved Black Oak woodlands featuring native shade plants and ferns.

Historic Camp Truitt cabins will be restored as the Roderick Gay Botanical Garden Headquarters, Visitor Information Center, Administrative Offices, and Volunteer Center. The eastern valley, envisioned as the future home of the Stoner Chapel, will honor Dr. Peter Stoner for his decades of dedication and support in helping advance the vision of establishing a botanical garden in South Fulton County.

The Roderick Gay Botanical Garden Conservancy will oversee the Garden's governance, fundraising, conservation, educational programming, volunteer development, and botanical collections, helping preserve this extraordinary landscape for future generations.

When completed, the Botanical Garden will become one of Georgia’s premier destinations for conservation, education, ecotourism, weddings, horticultural exhibitions, seasonal festivals, and community events.
